KATHMANDU: APRIL. 2 – According to the Ukrainian president, over 3,000 people have been led to safety from the besieged city of Mariupol.

“Humanitarian corridors were operational today in three regions: Donetsk, Lugansk, and Zaporizhzhia. We were able to save 6,266 people, including 3,071 from Mariupol “Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in a video address delivered early Saturday.

An AFP reporter saw around 30 evacuation buses pull into Zaporizhzhia late Friday, some of them carrying people who had escaped to Mariupol on their own and were then bused to Ukrainian-controlled territory.

It wasn’t clear whether Zelensky was referring to the same people.
