Blast on railway track leaves train operations suspended in S. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: MARCH. 31 – Pakistan’s railway authorities on Thursday suspended train operations in several areas of Pakistan’s southern Sindh province following a blast on the railway track, police and local media said.

Unknown miscreants blew up the railway track near the Kotri area of the province, damaging a portion of the track, said police officials in the area, adding that a search operation has begun to catch the culprits.

Police officials said that repair work on the track has started and the rail service will be resumed as soon as possible.

After the blast, paramilitary troops, police and other law enforcement agencies arrived at the site and cordoned off the affected area.

The bomb disposal squad was also called in after the blast to determine the exact nature of the blast, said, police officials.

No group or individual has claimed the blast.
