Power cut affects Sri Lankan mobile internet services

COLOMBO: MARCH. 31 – Several Sri Lankan mobile service providers said on Thursday that a power cut would affect the quality of 3G and 4G internet services.

The service providers said they were not receiving adequate amounts of diesel for the generators at mobile transmission towers, and therefore some of the features necessary for the 3G and 4G internet services were not functioning.

The mobile service providers made the statements in response to questions by journalists on the slowing of mobile internet in the past few days.

The Sri Lankan government imposed a 10-hour power cut on Wednesday and a 13-hour power cut is scheduled for Thursday.
