Sundar Yatayat brought electric bus, 9 buses will run in Rupandehi-Kapilvastu area
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 29 – Sundar Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. has launched an electric bus service. On Tuesday, CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the bus service.
Chairperson Oli has travelled 33 kilometres from Manigram to Lumbini in Rupandehi and approximately 16 kilometres from Lumbini to Gautam Buddha Airport since the bus service’s beginning.
It is claimed to be Nepal’s first public bus service to run on battery power. Previously, a trolley bus powered by power lines began operation in Nepal.
The electric bus was tested on Tuesday and will be operational by Wednesday, according to the company’s chairperson, Bhesh Bahadur Thapa.
He stated that two electric buses are currently in operation and that another seven buses will be delivered within the next seven days.
He stated that nine buses will now run on various routes in Rupandehi Kapilvastu. He also stated that the company has made plans to charge the station for the bus.
