KATHMANDU: MARCH. 29 – Gujarat Titans have started the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket season on a high note. On Monday, Gujarat defeated Lucknow by 5 wickets in their first match of the tournament.

Gujarat lost 5 wickets in 19 overs and scored 161 runs after being set a target of 159 runs by Lucknow. Gujarat’s leading run-scorer was Rahul Tewatia, who scored 40 runs. Captain Hardik Pandya scored 33 runs, while Matthew Wade and David Miller each scored 30. Dushmantha Chameera took two wickets for Lakhan.

Earlier, batting first, Lucknow had scored 158 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Lucknow got half-centuries from Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni.

Badoni hit four fours and three sixes in 41 balls to score 54 runs. Kunal Pandya contributed 21 runs. On the bowling side, Mohammed Shami took three wickets for Gujarat. Aaron snatched two wickets. Gujarat now has two points from one game after winning. Lucknow began the competition with a loss.
