President Bhandari arrives Pokhara
POKHARA: MARCH. 28 – President Bidya Devi Bhandari arrived here in connection with inaugurating the first national conference of judicial committee. The Head-of-State landed here by a Nepal Army (NA) helicopter.
Upon her arrival at the touristic town, she was welcomed by Gandaki State Chief Prithviman Gurung, Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali, Gandaki State government ministers, former minister Padma Aryal, State Assembly members and Pokhara metropolitan deputy- mayor Manjudevi Gurung.
According to the deputy mayor who is also the chief of the judicial committee here, the judicial committee of all the 753 local governments across the country has been invited to the event.
Article 217 of the Constitution has guaranteed the presence of a three-member judicial committee at every local level under the convenorship of the vice-chair of rural municipality and of the deputy mayor of the municipality, sub-metropolitan and metropolis to exercise power to hear cases, as entrusted to the local government.
The committee aims to ensure people’s easy access to justice.
