UML election manifesto draft task force formed
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 24 – The main opposition party, UML, has assembled a task force of experts to draft the party’s central manifesto for the upcoming local elections.
A central committee meeting on Thursday formed a seven-member task force under the coordination of the party’s senior vice-chairperson and head of the policy research institute, Ishwor Pokharel.
Vice-chairperson Yuvraj Gyawali, Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali, Bishnu Rimal, leaders Devendra Dahal, Manoj Jung Thapa, former Finance Minister Dr Yuvraj Khatiwada, Mayor of Rapti Municipality Prabha Baral, Chairperson of the Intellectuals Council Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota and former executive officer of the National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyawali.
According to Bishnu Rijal, deputy chief of the publicity department, the task force will submit the draft of the declaration to the central secretariat by the end of Chaith.

The meeting decided to make the declaration public on the party’s founding day, April 22, and to make the commitment letter public in all 753 municipalities on the same day.
Meanwhile, Chairperson Oli will hold a virtual dialogue with representatives of all 763 municipalities’ committees from the central office to prepare the declaration, according to Rijal.
