Former Chief Karki of Pokhara passes away
POKHARA: MARCH. 22 – Rudra Bahadur Karki, the former Mayor of Pokhara, has died. Karki, 98, died at his home. Experts say that Pokhara has entered the modern era after he led the Pokhara Municipal Panchayat.
From 2028 BS to 2031 BS, he was the Panchayat ruler of Pokhara. Despite leading the panchayat, he solved Pokhara’s problems democratically and planned to build a modern city.
In 2031 BS, he created the first master plan for Pokhara. Until now, Pokhara’s development has been guided by the same master plan.
Since becoming Pradhan Panchayat, he has been acquiring land for the expansion of New Road from Pokhara Bus Park, the current international airport under construction.
The Pokhara Metropolitan City has given a mourning leave in honor of Karki on Tuesday.
