SC orders not to implement the provision that people’s representative should resign before nomination

KATHMANDU: MARCH. 22 – The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered not to immediately implement the election code of conduct for the people’s representatives to resign before registering their nominations in the local level elections.
The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order in a writ petition filed by Nima Galgen Sherpa, chairperson of Helambu Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk, demanding that the people’s representatives should be allowed to contest in the local elections.
Hearing the writ petition, a single bench of Justice Bamkumar Shrestha issued a short-term interim order not to implement the provision of the election code of conduct till March 27.
