Woman arrested for obtaining citizenship separately from two districts

POKHARA: MARCH. 21 – A young woman from Kathmandu has been arrested on the charge of obtaining dual citizenship. Pooja Dhakal was arrested by Gorkha Police on the charge of obtaining dual citizenship in Gorkha and Kaski.

A native of Pokhara Lakeside, she obtained her first citizenship from Kaski on Mangsir 8, 2067 BS (24 November 2010) and another citizenship from Gorkha on Mangsir 28, 2067 BS (14 December 2010).

Pooja had obtained citizenship by adopting Sarki, a Gorkha singer, as her father. She has been detained by the Gorkha Police on the charge of dual citizenship, according to the Gorkha Police.
