World Poetry Day is being celebrated
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 21 – On Monday, various programs will be held to commemorate World Poetry Day. On this special day, various literary organizations are holding special programs.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared March 21 as World Poetry Day in 1999.
On the occasion of the day, a special poets’ symposium was organized by the Department of Literature (Verse/Poetry) of Nepal Pragya Pratisthan, said Shashi Lumumbule, Communication and Diaspora Coordinator of the Pratisthan.
Poetry, according to UNESCO, is very important for a prosperous society as it strengthens people’s freedom of expression. According to UNESCO, poetry is a powerful medium of communication and helps to build trust between the community and the individual.
