Singer Saput censors ‘Pir’ video
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 20 – After widespread criticism, singer Prakash Saput removed a scene in which a female combatant is shown engaging in prostitution from the song ‘Pir.’ On Saturday evening, he posted a new video of the song to YouTube.
Singer Saput has clarified that he removed the video after he felt that the specific scene in the video song would remain as a thorn in the video, which would be archived on social media. He also stated that the song Pir was not only successful but also eye-opening in many ways.
“While making creations based on the facts, it is important to keep in mind the views of the Nepali audience, listeners, the group/community and the society as a whole,” said Saput. He also said that the particular scene and character had actually overshadowed other beauty of the song and video.
The new video was ‘re-uploaded’ by editing the scene to take into account the reviewer’s opinions as well as the group’s self-esteem and dignity.
Saput has stated that the Pir song has inspired him to explore more before releasing new works. Should the creator, on the other hand, limit his creative scope, or should the viewer broaden his perspective? He believes that a discussion on the subject is necessary.
Singer Saput has also asked that all parties involved refraining from further politicizing and exaggerating in the context of the new song.
