‘Buckle’ & chain removed from patient’s abdomen at Nobel

BIRATNAGAR: MARCH. 16 – At the Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar, a patient’s abdomen ‘buckle’ and chain were removed.A waist belt and a neck chain were removed from the abdomen of a 21-year-old man from Taksar’s Bhojpur Municipality-12.

According to family members, the young man attempted suicide by swallowing a waist belt and a chain from his neck. Both items were removed from the young man’s abdomen after he was brought to Nobel for treatment following the incident.

Dr. Dhruva Narayan Shah, a Nobel specialist, reported that the buckle in the abdomen was removed from the mouth using an endoscopic method without incision. According to Dr. Shah, the buckle was stuck in the oesophagus of the young man. The chain had reached the stomach.

An endoscope is used to remove the buckle from the mouth. The chain in the stomach is excreted through faeces. The team, which included Dr. Shah and Dr. Mohan Khadka, a doctor who specializes in stomach surgery and cancer, is said to have made the patient risk-free by removing the buckle.

The young man’s health has returned to normal after the buckle and chain were removed without incision.

Nobel Hospital has informed that he has been discharged after his health condition returned to normal.
