Rights activists monitor the incident of rape & murder of a girl child

BIRATNAGAR: MARCH. 16 – A team of human rights activists met with the family of a one-and-a-half-year-old Sundarharaicha Municipality-7 girl who was murdered after being gang-raped.

According to Punya Adhikari, a document officer at the INSEC (Informal Sector Service Centre) State 1 Office in Biratnagar, he met with the family of the girl who was abducted and gang-raped on March 11 and obtained information about the incident. Following learning of the incident, INSEC, Maiti Nepal, and Aafanta Nepal each provided Rs. 10,000 to the victim’s family.

Social organizations including INSEC, National Human Rights Commission, CWIN, Maiti Nepal and Aafanta Nepal have taken information about the police investigation into the incident and the agitation being carried out by the victims. The victim’s family has urged the human rights activists to take initiative to take action against the culprit.

During the meeting with the victim’s family, the human rights activists have taken information that no one has pressured or influenced them to reach a settlement on the incident.

Financial and food assistance has been provided to the victim’s family by human rights activists. On March 12, police arrested Ajay Chaudhary, 25, of Sundarharaicha Municipality-7, and Mithun Chaudhary, 28, of the same location on charges of raping and killing a girl child.

Police said they were investigating.
