Hearing of Shrestha’s recommendation for the post of judge started by the parliamentary hearing committee
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 14 – The Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Federal Parliament has moved ahead with the hearing process of Til Prasad Shrestha, who has been recommended for the post of Supreme Court Judge.
A committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday decided to call a complaint against Shrestha, who was recommended by the Judicial Council. A few days ago, a meeting of the Judicial Council had recommended the name of Chief Justice of the Biratnagar High Court Shrestha for the post of Supreme Court Judge.
Committee Chairperson Laxman Lal Karna informed that the committee has decided to call for 10 days’ notice for complaint against Shrestha. Chairman Karna said that a further hearing on Shrestha would be held after 10 days.
There is a constitutional provision that if the name proposed by the hearing committee is approved, it will be appointed by the President.
