Singh elected Congress President of Sarlahi from Deuba faction

KATHMANDU: MARCH. 14 – Surendra Prasad Singh has been elected as the President of Nepali Congress Sarlahi.

Singh of Deuba’s party was elected after defeating Koirala’s faction Laxman Roy, who is also a former president.

Singh defeated Koirala’s candidate Laxman Roy by 380 votes. Singh got 1,758 votes, while Roy got 1,378 votes.

Dr. Saroj of the Deuba faction got 1,764 votes, while Nabin Adhikari of the other faction got 1,493 votes. The positions of secretary have been won by Niraj Karki and Manoj Yadav.

The Congress had a total of 3,287 voters in Sarlahi and 3,174 had cast their votes.
