Speaker request to end the impediment & assist in the functioning of the Parliament
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 13 – Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has asked for an end to the parliamentary obstruction and assistance in the conduct of the assembly.
Speaker Sapkota stated in a House of Representatives meeting on Sunday that the law-making process had been affected by the parliament’s obstruction and requested assistance in conducting the assembly.
He stated that the obstruction affected the passage of 42 bills under consideration in the assembly in accordance with the rules, the daily problems of the common people being reported to the government by the people’s representatives, efforts for a solution, making the government accountable to the parliament, law-making, and monitoring.
He stated that it was everyone’s responsibility to help the state-run smoothly by passing the pending bills in accordance with the rules.
UML has been obstructing the House saying that its demands have not been met. Earlier in the day, CPN-UML MP Bhim Rawal had said that India had unilaterally used dozers in Bangabagar of Darchula and no initiative had been taken by the government. He objected that the government remained silent even after India crossed the border.
Similarly, NCP-N MP Prem Suwal also condemned the Indian side and demanded an immediate halt to the embankment construction. Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bharat Kumar Shah presented the annual report of the committee at the meeting.
