Kidney Day celebrated with the slogan ‘Kidney Health for All’
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 10 – On Thursday, World Kidney Day is observed with a nationwide awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Kidney Health for All.’
On this occasion, a kidney walk from Shantibatika in Kathmandu was held. Since 2006, the second Thursday of March has been designated as World Kidney Day. Kidney disease is becoming more prevalent in Nepal on a daily basis.
According to doctors, the number of kidney patients is increasing due to an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, as well as a lack of regular health check-ups.
Every year, it is estimated that 3,500 Nepalese people suffer from kidney failure. It has been discovered that 10% of Nepal’s total population suffers from some form of kidney disease.
The government has been providing one lakh rupees for free dialysis, necessary treatment, and medicine to needy kidney disease patients.
