Recommendation of names of Thani, Bhatta, Sitaula to the Executive Director of NOC
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 10 – The executive director selection committee of Nepal Oil Corporation has recommended three candidates for the position of executive director of the corporation.
Engineer Umer Prasad Thani, Chandika Prasad Bhatta, and Jeevan Prakash Sitaula were chosen by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies’ selection committee and recommended to the Ministry.
The corporation has been without an executive director for the past two months after Surendra Poudel, the corporation’s executive director, left on Jan 6 after completing his three-year tenure.
Following Poudel’s departure, the corporation issued a notice to fill the vacancy. According to the information, 18 people applied to be the corporation’s executive director.
Thani has already been appointed to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Board of Directors. He is the chairperson of the Center for Democratic Engineers Nepal (CDEN), a Nepali Congress-affiliated organization of engineers.
Similarly, Chandika Prasad Bhatta is the Executive Director of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority. He has already served as the corporation’s executive director and is well-connected in Congress. Sitaula previously served as the industry department’s director-general.
