First nationwide open school boys & girls boxing competition to be held from March 19
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 7 – The first nationwide open school boys and girls boxing tournament will be held in the first week of Chaith (March).
The Nepal Boxing Association and Sports Promotion Organization Nepal (SPON) held a press conference on Monday, announcing that the competition will take place from March 19 to 21.
The competition will be held at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor and will feature players aged 12 to 14. According to Prakash Thapa Magar, the competition’s coordinator, 70 to 80 players from districts and clubs across the country will compete. He stated that competition would be beneficial to the development of high school players.
The competition will be held for a total of 18 gold, 18 silver and 36 bronze medals in 10 weight groups for boys and 8 weight groups for girls. Men will compete in 35, 37, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55, 58 and 61 kg weight groups. According to the organizers, women will compete in 35, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55 and 60 kg weight groups.
