Damauli fire doused four hours later

DAMAULI: MARCH. 6 – Four hours later, the fire at a hardware godown at a main chowk in Damauli’s Tanahun district’s Byas Municipality-4 was extinguished. The fire broke out at 10 a.m. today.

Due to the narrow road made it difficult for a fire engine to reach the incident site, Simrik Air a firefighting helicopter dispatched to extinguish the blaze.

The helicopter transported water from the nearby Madi River to put out the fire. Later, after demolishing the huts that had blocked the road leading to the incident site with a dozer, the fire engine joined the efforts to extinguish the fire.

According to reports, the firefighting helicopter aided in extinguishing the blaze more quickly. Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and local people also joined the efforts to douse the fire.

Krishna Kumar Shrestha, the Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security, who dispatched the firefighting helicopter on his own initiative, also got directly involved in putting out the fire.

Losses in the inferno have yet to be ascertained, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Yubaraj Khadka. “We are collecting details of the losses. We will inform about it later. Four to five houses have been damaged in the fire.”
