Lalitpur prohibits smoking in various areas

LALITPUR: MARCH. 4 – The Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation has declared a smoking ban in several areas.

On Friday, the Metropolitan declared Lalitpur’s Patan Durbar Square, Pulchowk Ga Hiti Park, and Jawalakhel Chowk areas no-smoking zone.

Chiri Babu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, stated that the metropolitan has declared the area a no-smoking zone with the slogan “Let’s not smoke, stay healthy.” He stated that, while some areas of Lalitpur were already planning to declare no-smoking zones, there was some lag time due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

The metropolitan has stated that if someone is found smoking in a restricted area, they will be notified and action will be taken as a penalty. The metropolitan has stated that the Lalitpur Municipal Police will be constantly mobilized to enforce the smoking ban.
