UCPN (M) elects Hari Narayan as chairperson of Pokhara metropolitan

POKHARA: MARCH. 4 – Hari Narayan Giri (Bigyan) has been elected as the chairperson of the Pokhara Metropolitan Committee of the CPN-Maoist Center. A new committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Giri on Thursday.

Bhanubhakta Adhikari, Pushpa Kamal Dhungana and Harkaman BK have been elected as the vice-chairperson of the committee while Janak Raj Subedi has been elected as the secretary. Similarly, Bimala Pahari and Suryaprakash Tiwari have been unanimously elected as joint secretary and treasurer respectively.

The convention ended three months later than scheduled due to the large number of aspirants. So far, 83 members of the 99-member committee have been elected. Deepak Koirala, Metropolitan in-Charge, stated that the remaining members will be nominated.

Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski, as well as Palungtar Municipal Committee of Gorkha, are among the 85 municipalities in the Gandaki.

After that, the state committee will be complete and the state committee will form the district coordination committee. The Maoist legislature has not given executive powers to the district.
