Call to scrap Nepal Scouts ad-hoc committee and go for fresh election
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 3 – A demand has been made for dismissing the existing ad-hoc committee of Nepal Scouts and holding an election for new leadership.
The ‘Save Scouts Campaign’ organised a press meet here today and demanded this. The committee with a mandate of six months for holding elections has been accused of being failed to do so for four years. “The committee should be replaced by a new one to proceed towards the election,” it is said.
During the press meet, scouts advisor Pushpa Lata Bhattarai criticised the existing ad-hoc leadership of going against the scouts’ norms, values and beliefs.
As she explained, scout training have now been just secured for political cadres and this is against the spirit of scout.
As she accused, the Nepal Scout national head office now serves as a political recruitment centre.
Additionally, the campaign expressed its concern over the Nepal Scouts scarf and a letter pad.
