One arrested for placing suspicious object in front of Parliament building

KATHMANDU: MARCH. 2 – A man has been arrested for placing a suspicious object on the road in front of the New Baneshwor Parliament Building.

Subash Mahat, a resident of Bhumlu Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2, Simthali, Kavre District, was arrested for allegedly placing a suspicious object on the road in front of the Parliament House during the MCC protest on Feb 28.

According to police, Mahat placed a suspicious object (a pressure cooker bomb) on the main road in front of the parliament building in New Baneshwor with the intent of terrorizing the public.

Mahat, who currently resides in Chabahil, was nabbed along with the motorcycle he was riding by a special investigation team from the Metropolitan Crime Branch. According to police, Mahat has been remanded in custody and further investigation is underway.

According to the Metropolitan Crime Branch, Mahat is also the chairperson of Pashupati Multipurpose Campus Committee of ANNIFSU revoluntary.
