Bird flu detected in Pokhara

POKHARA: MARCH. 2 – A fresh strain of bird flu case has been detected in Pokhara. Bird flu has been found in Pokhara Wards 15 and 17. Bird flu was confirmed in the laboratory after chickens raised by Khusiman Gurung of Pokhara-15 and Khem Bahadur Chhetri of Pokhara-17 died on Feb 18.

As soon as bird flu was detected in the district, vigilance was implemented, and work began to destroy birds and bird products in high-risk areas. Dr. Grishma Neupane, the focal point, informed them that they had been deployed to the technical incident site.

‘Four forts have been identified as risk areas. A meeting chaired by the Chief District Officer has decided to identify four forts and start the work of destroying chickens and chicken products inside them, ‘he said.’ There is no need to panic. But caution must be exercised. ‘Bird flu was confirmed in Madi, Kaski, three years ago. Due to bird flu, it has been decided to stop bringing chickens from there for 10 days.
