Surkhet: Order to shoot if curfew is violated!
SURKHET: MARCH. 1 – A curfew order has been issued in the capital of Karnali state, Birendranagar after the anti-MCC movement escalated. The agitation got out of control on Monday morning after youths chanted slogans against the MCC and tortured security personnel.
After the protesters became violent in the name of the Nepal strike, police were deployed at the main intersections of Birendranagar, Mangalgadhi, Yeri Chowk, Birendra Chowk, Bus Park Chowk and Airport Chowk. However, the protesters were fierce after the police provided security and some security personnel were injured. Protesters marched around the market after five o’clock in the evening, pelting stones at the market and eventually vandalizing the offices of various political parties.
According to Surkhet Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal, the banners of the party office were burnt and physical damage was caused.
According to Rijal, the protesters are hiding and throwing stones at the police. On Tuesday morning, three people were arrested for attempting to throw stones at police officers.
“Anyone who violates the curfew order will be shot,” Rijal notified. If the order is broken, a shooting order has been issued.
Since Monday morning, 20 protesters have been under police control, according to police. On Monday, 17 of them were apprehended. In the same way, seven police officers and some security personnel were injured in the clash.
After the protesters began protesting, a curfew was imposed in Birendranagar from 8 p.m. on Monday to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the District Administration Office, curfew has been imposed on Itram Khola in the east of Birendranagar, Bangesimal in the west, cotton barracks in the north and 500 meters of Ratnaraj Marg in the south.
Clashes broke out between protesters and security forces on Monday. Police fired more than three dozen rounds of tear gas to control the crowd. Six parties, including the CPN (Maoist) led by Netra Bikram Chand Biplav, had declared Nepal strike.
