Public holiday to mourn the demise of Ward Chair Karki
SURKHET: FEB. 27 – A public holiday has been announced across the Bheriganga Municipality Municipality in mourning of the death of Ward Chairperson of Bheriganga Municipality-1, Surkhet Nawaraj Karki. Karki died in a road accident.
The municipality has issued a condolence statement while announcing the holiday to all government offices in the municipality including the ward office today. Ward Chairperson Karki died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at Bansbari Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu.
He was on his way from the ward office to a municipality meeting when his motorcycle (Bhe 6 Pa 4401) was hit by a vehicle (Karnali Pradesh 02001 Kha 0546) travelling from Nepalgunj to Surkhet.
In the 2074 BS local level election, the 30-year-old ward chair was elected to represent the CPN (Maoist Center). He was the Surkhet district’s youngest ward chair, having been born in 2048 BS.
