Artist Jayananda Lama passes away
KATHMANDU: FEB. 23 – Jayananda Lama, a renowned artist, has passed away. Comedian Shivahari Poudel informed that he died by falling while getting out of a car in front of his house at 2 am on Wednesday.
Lama, who was born in Barhabise, Sindhupalchowk, has appeared in more than 100 films. He has performed hundreds of popular songs, including Kalkatte Kaiyo. He has recently been involved in film acting.
He had appeared in some series of the movie Chhakka Panja. He served as a judge on the Nepali folk music reality show ‘Nepal Lok Star.’
Lama has also studied and conducted research in the field of folk music. He went to the villages and collected folk songs. He was involved with the then-Nepal State Pragya Pratisthan and spent a long time researching and protecting folk songs.
