KATHMANDU: FEB. 22 – Gagan Kumar Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has stated that ruling coalition partners who do not vote for the MCC should leave the government.

Speaking to reporters in Chitwan today, Thapa stated that participating in the government and voting against the government’s proposal would be unethical and impractical and that the Maoists and UCPN-M should leave the government if they do not vote for the MCC.

He said, “After sitting in the government and voting against the government’s proposal, we will vote in different places on this issue.” But to go together is an immoral and apolitical issue. That we voted for it and settled down together. You can’t just sit and vote in different places. ‘

Recalling that various processes on the issue of Millennium Challenge Corporation MCC had been initiated during the tenure of each leader in the government, he expressed confidence that after the discussion, everyone would vote for MCC.
