British Ambassador Pollitt vows to extend assistance to Gandaki State
GANDAKI: FEB. 22 – British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola Pollitt, called on Chief Minister of Gandaki State Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokhrel on Monday.
On the occasion, CM Pokhrel extended gratitude to Ambassador Pollitt for the continued assistance of the UK to Nepal’s development and prosperity. The UK government has provided assistance for climate change adaptation, promotion of small industry and livelihood, health, tourism, and promotion of good governance at State and local levels.
CM Pokhrel also reminded the age-old relations between Nepal and the UK and expected that the UK would continue its assistance to Nepal in the important sectors, including climate change adaptation, tourism and infrastructure development.
According to him, Gandaki province government had prepared and enforced necessary laws, initiated planned development with the formulation of first five year plan, base line report on SDGs, mid-term expenditure mechanism, project bank etc.
On the occasion, Ambassador Pollitt vowed that the UK government would continue its support to Nepal on its efforts to climate change adaptation. Sharing that she was mesmerized by the beauty of Pokhara city, she also said he had wonderful cycling in Pokhara on Monday morning. Pollitt also reminded the age-old relations between Nepal and the UK and viewed that she was active to further strengthen the two countries’ relations.
Vice-Chairperson at Policy and Planning Commission of Gandaki Province, Dr Raghuraj Kafle, informed that the State government had planned to reduce multidimensional poverty to 14 percent and reach an average annual economic growth rate of 10 percent in the province.
Also attending the meeting were political advisor to CM, chief secretary, and secretaries.
