Tensions in New Baneshwor area, Prohibited area broken by protesters

KATHMANDU: FEB. 20 – Protests against the US project MCC erupted in the New Baneshwor area, causing tensions to rise.

After the MCC agreement was tabled in today’s House of Representatives meeting, protesters broke through the restricted area.

They have reached Baneshwor Chowk. Police have fired tear gas. Protesters are hurling stones at police. Considering the security sensitivity, a large number of police have been mobilized in the Baneshwor area.
