Securities Board Chairperson Hamal assumes office
KATHMANDU: FEB. 20 – Ramesh Hamal, the newly appointed chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board, has assumed office. He took office on Sunday after arriving at the board’s office.
On Thursday, he was appointed chairperson of the Securities & Exchange Board at a cabinet meeting. He took the oath of office and secrecy before Finance Minister Janardan Sharma on Friday.
Taking over on Sunday, he stated that during his tenure, he would work in the capital market and in a way that would feel the Securities and Exchange Board’s improvement. He stated that he would work to benefit small investors in the capital market.
Hamal, who has worked as a non-resident Nepali for a long time in various organizations abroad, has almost three decades of work experience.
Earlier, Bhisma Raj Dhungana, chairperson of the board, was sacked by the government after a dispute over the purchase of shares of the best cement company.
