National Democracy Day is being celebrated

KATHMANDU: FEB. 19 – Today marks the 72nd National Democracy Day, which is being commemorated by a variety of programs across the country. A special program is being held at Tundikhel.

The day commemorates the 7th of Falgun, 2007 BS when democracy was established in Nepal following the end of the 104-year-long autocratic Rana rule.

Every year since 2008 BS, the main ceremony committee has organized a special ceremony at the Sainik Manch. The government has appealed to all for a special three-day celebration on Feb 18, 19 and 20.

Illumination will also take place in the evenings for three days.
