Democracy Day: President grants amnesty to 513 prisoners

KATHMANDU: FEB. 19 – On the occasion of Democracy Day, 513 prisoners have received amnesty.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has pardoned and imprisoned 513 prisoners in accordance with the government’s recommendation.

According to the President’s Office, President Bhandari has waived the remaining prison sentences of 501 inmates, including Phurba Sherpa, in accordance with Article 276 of Nepal’s Constitution.

Similarly, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, 12 convicts were pardoned.
