Local elections: Party registration from today

KATHMANDU: FEB. 17 – The Election Commission is starting party registration for the local level election from today.

The commission has stated that the party registration is open till Feb 27. The government has already announced the date of local elections to be held in one phase on May 13.

106 parties have been registered in the commission. The commission has stated that the parties have to submit the annual audit report of the fiscal year 077/078 for the registration of the party.

Similarly, the newly formed parties that merged or merged in 076/77 should submit their annual audit report prepared in such a way that the details of the parties before unification or merger are also visible while submitting the audit report of 076/77.

Even the newly formed parties that merged or merged in 077/78 have to submit the annual audit report of different parties while submitting the audit report of 076/77.

According to the information issued by the commission, when applying for party registration, full and abbreviated name of the political party, date of establishment, address of the central office registered with the commission, correspondence address, telephone number, email and website details should be disclosed.

Similarly, the commission has asked to disclose the number of office-bearers and members of the party’s central executive committee, state and district committees in the petition.

The commission said that the date of the last election of the party’s central level, state level and district level executive committee should also be announced.

The commission has asked the parties to submit a copy of the decision of the Central Committee to register the party for the purpose of election, party constitution, rules and manifesto, a sample of election symbol also during the party registration. The office will remain open even on public holidays for party registration.
