MCC ‘supporters’ take to street with ‘welcome MCC’ banners

KATHMANDU: FEB. 16 – Protests against the US Assistance Project (MCC) in front of the Parliament House in New Baneshwor were also supported today in the capital.

The Independent Civil Society’s motorcycle rally began today in Anamnagar and travelled through various locations, including Maitighar Mandala.

The rally attendees held a demonstration under the banner ‘Welcome MCC,’ demanding that MCC be recognized as the backbone of Nepal’s power development and that development not be politicized.

Today, leaders and activists supported by various political parties protested the government’s decision to submit the MCC to parliament for approval. Today’s protests by pro and con groups have had a somewhat impact on transportation services in the capital.
