Public holiday in Madhesh to commemorate ‘People’s War Day’ tomorrow

KATHMANDU: FEB. 12 – For the first time, the government of Madhesh State will commemorate People’s War Day. Tomorrow (Falgun 1) [Feb 13] is People’s War Day in Madhesh State, and the government will commemorate it.

The state government has also declared a public holiday on Feb 13 to commemorate People’s War Day. On Friday evening, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications issued a statement announcing that the public holiday would be observed on Sunday.

Every year on Feb 13, the Maoists observe People’s War Day to commemorate the day when the then-insurgent CPN (Maoist) started the armed insurgency.
