Pashupatinath temple to be opened from Feb 11

KATHMANDU: FEB. 10 – The Pashupatinath Temple, which has been closed since the first week of Magh (Jan/Feb) due to the third wave of COVID-19, will reopen on Friday, Magh 28 (Feb 11), according to the Pashupati Area Development Fund.

According to the information issued by the fund, the temple is being reopened as per the order of the District Administration Office, Kathmandu dated Magh 23 (Feb 6), saying that worship, meditation or prayers can be done in places like monasteries, temples, mosques, monasteries and churches by observing public health standards.

The fund had stated that the Pashupatinath temple would be opened as soon as it prepares for Mahashivaratri.

A statement issued by the member secretary of the fund, Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, said that the temple would be opened from Friday following the health standards issued by the World Health Organization and the Government of Nepal.

The Pashupatinath temple was closed to the public on Magh 5 (Jan 19) after the COVID-19 infection started spreading. Revathiraman Adhikari, a spokesperson of the fund, said that only regular worship was being held after the temple was closed.
