CPN (Maoist Centre)’s central committee to meet on Feb 11 and 12
KATHMANDU: FEB. 9 – The central committee of the CPN (Maoist Centre) is to convene at the Nepal Academy at Kamaladi here on Feb 11 and 12.
The Maoist Centre has said the meeting will finalize the central office-bearers. The party statute has the provision of 15 office-bearers including one Chairperson, one Senior Vice-Chairperson, six Vice-Chairpersons, one General Secretary, two Deputy General Secretaries, three Secretaries and one Treasurer.
The meeting will start at 11 in the morning, Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s secretariat said. The meeting of the central committee had been put off for various reasons after the party’s Eighth National Convention from December 26, 2021, through January 2, 2022.
It has not been able to appoint the office-bearers as the meeting has been postponed frequently. The first meeting after the conclusion of the General Convention unanimously selected Prachanda as the party’s Chairperson.
Although a meeting of the central committee had been called for January 9 for finalizing the party’s office-holders, this meeting was also put off as employees at the party central office and some central leaders were infected with coronavirus infection.
