Satya Mohan Joshi’s autobiography ‘Satya Mohan’ is being published
KATHMANDU: FEB. 9 – Satya Mohan Joshi, a 102-year-old culturologist, is about to have his autobiography published.
Bookhill Publications unveiled the book’s cover today, wishing Joshi a speedy recovery from his hospitalization. According to the publishing house, the book will be published this Falgun (February/March).
The autobiography, written by journalist and writer Girish Giri, provides an interesting account of Joshi’s geographical, social, political, cultural, and practical life from the last decade of the Rana period to the COVID-19 period.
Girish Giri wrote the book after nearly a decade of closeness and conversation. Giri says that after arriving at the hospital yesterday and handing over the book to Joshi, “he bowed down and read it for about half an hour.” Then his face shone as if he wasn’t sick.
According to writer Girish Giri, Joshi, who has worked tirelessly for Nepali folk culture, literature, archaeology, and social construction his entire life, is now the only narrator of that generation who can narrate the country’s long history by sharing his experiences. ‘Those are the stories in this memoir.’
Joshi, a three-time Madan Award winner, is also the first ordinary person to be issued a postage stamp.
The book’s cover features an unpublished photograph by renowned photographer Kumar Ale.
His autobiography, which is expected to shed light on the rise and fall of Nepali society, is eagerly awaited by all.
