Akhil’s demonstration against petroleum rise [Photos]

KATHMANDU: FEB. 6 – Akhil (Revolutionary), a student group affiliated with the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ staged a demonstration demanding that the petroleum price hike be withdrawn.

In the morning, the organization staged a demonstration in front of Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus (RR), requesting that the government to withdrawn its decision to raise the price of petroleum goods. With effect from Tuesday night, Nepal Oil Corporation raised the price of petroleum goods.

The corporation increased the price of petrol, diesel, and kerosene by Rs 3 per liter, while domestic aviation fuel was increased by Rs 10 per liter. External aviation fuel prices have risen by $100 per kiloliter.

Following the price increases, petrol has increased to Rs 142 per liter in Kathmandu Valley, while diesel and kerosene have increased to Rs 115 per liter. Similarly, the corporation increased the price of domestic aviation fuel by Rs 10 per liter to Rs 116 per liter and increased the price of external aviation fuel by Rs 100 per kiloliter to Rs 1,095 per kiloliter.
