Security agencies given orders to submit an action plan for local elections

KATHMANDU: FEB. 2 – The government has begun preparations for the upcoming local elections. On Wednesday, the Central Security Committee directed that the required security plan for the local elections be submitted.

All four security agencies have been directed to submit election-related action plans at a meeting chaired by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand at the ministry. The meeting also discussed issues related to general security and improvement, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Temporary police recruitment was also discussed during a similar meeting. Despite the Election Commission’s recommendation that local elections be held on May 18, the government has yet to make a decision.

The meeting, on the other hand, was organized to keep security forces prepared and to discuss necessary security strategies.

During the meeting, the Home Minister directed that all essential security strategies for the local elections be implemented.
