Nepal’s victory over Mauritius

KATHMANDU: FEB. 1 – The second friendly match between Nepal and Mauritius ended in a 1-0 victory for Nepal. The game was tensed in the second half. Sujal Shrestha’s goal was decisive for Nepal to win. In the tenth minute of the game, he scored.

After Mauritius players tackled Nepal’s Anjan Bista, the game became tense. Nepal’s team manager Madhusadan Upadhyaya and goalkeeper coach Bikash Malla entered the field during the dispute.

Pujan Uparkoti of Nepal and Adrien Botlar of Mauritius, as well as coach Malla, got red cards from referee Nabindra Maharjan. Mauritius was then reduced to nine players after Emmanuel Vincent got a red card.

Mauritius failed to convert a penalty into a goal just three minutes after Nepal took the lead. Kiran Chemjong, Nepal’s captain and goalkeeper, saved Captain Andy Sophie’s penalty.

Tej Tamang and Manish Dangi from Nepal were unable to take advantage of the chance. In the second half, Manish missed two great opportunities. Bimal Gharti Magar too missed a chance.

The first match, held on Jan 30, similarly ended in a 1-0 win for Nepal.

For the first time, Nepal and Mauritius have played friendly football. The tension in the second game, though, turned the game sour.
