KATHMANDU: JAN. 31 – The Democratic National Disability Organization of Nepal has demanded that local elections be held as soon as possible.

The organization’s general secretary, Jagdish Prasad Adhikari, issued a statement today drawing attention to the fact that the government has yet to announce an election date, despite the fact that the term of the local level, which is concerned with the common people’s service facilities for the protection of the constitution and democracy, has expired.

According to Nepal’s constitution, the term of the local level people’s representatives expires on May 19, 2022, and if the local level election cannot be held before then, there would be a vacancy of the people’s representatives.

The organization has also demanded to amend the Local Level Election Act, 2073 BS to include the issue of disability.
