An old man dies after being attacked by a wild elephant

JHAPA: JAN. 31 – An old man of Mechinagar Municipality-13 has died this morning after being attacked by a wild elephant. The deceased has been identified as Khamba Singh Karki, 75, of Jhapa, according to the District Police Office.
He was seriously injured in the attack while chasing a wild elephant eating rice, maize and potatoes on the veranda of his house at around 3 in the morning.
Karki succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the Birta City Hospital in Birtamode, according to Basanta Pathak, a spokesperson for the Jhapa District Police Office.
Karki’s home is at Charali Bazar, near Ilam Road. Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, 63, was killed by a wild elephant while irrigating a field in Damak five days ago.
