PM Deuba reached Lainchaur on Martyrs’ Day [Photos]

KATHMANDU: JAN. 30 – Every year on Magh 16 (Jan 30), Martyrs’ Day is celebrated with various programs across the country in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the establishment and restoration of democracy and freedom in various eras.

The responsible officials have expressed their commitment to fulfilling the martyrs’ dream in a formal program to be held on this day. Various programs have been held by announcing the Martyr’s Week celebration with various programs from Jan 24 to 30.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached Lainchaur Martyrs’ Memorial. He paid homage to the known and unknown martyrs there. Along with him, ministers, high-ranking government officials, people’s representatives and security forces have been paying homage to the unidentified martyr.

Since 2012 BS, under the coordination of the then Kathmandu Municipality, the day in memory of the martyrs has been celebrated on Jan 30 every year.

The Rana ruler in Shobha Bhagwati executed Martyr Shukraraj Shastri on Magh 10, 1997 in Pachali in Kathmandu, Dharma Bhakta Mathema in Siphal on Magh 13, Ganga Lal Shrestha and Dasharath Chand on Magh 15, and Dharma Bhakta Mathema in Siphal on Magh 13.
