DHARAN: JAN. 30 – Dharan is both tourism and a religious destination. It attracts a huge number of worshippers each year due to its religious significance. Dharan is not only beautiful in nature, but it also holds religious importance. Budha Subba, that is the temple’s significance. Dharan’s religious areas include Budha Subba, Dantakali, and Pindeshwor.
Budha Subba and the locals discuss the significance of bamboo without its top, which can be found here. Couples used to write their names on a bamboo near the Budha Subba temple using a pin or a sharp item in order for their love to be successful.
The bamboo’s existence is in jeopardy as the name writers did not leave any space. People believe that by tying three strong threads in three locations on the bamboo growing surrounding the Budha Subba temple, they can fulfil their desires.
The Budha Subba temple’s roof is covered with brass and built-in pagoda style. The Budha Subba temple in Dharan is unlike any other temple in the area. Inside this temple, there are no idols of any deity. There are three soil mounds.
It is believed that worshipping such mounds will grant one’s wishes. Alcohol, liquor and tobacco are offered as offerings in this temple. Dambar Bahadur Ale Magar, the chief priest of the temple, says that the Budha Subba temple was not established in the name of any god or deity but in the name of a man called Budhababa.
In the temple, some people kill pigs and cut the chickens and offer them. As it was Saturday, there was a crowd of devotees coming to visit Budhasubba. Compared to other days, Saturday seems to be very busy.
