SURKHET: JAN. 28 – An all-party meeting has been held to decide on the expansion of the Karnali state government.

The meeting was convened to discuss the expansion of the government as the government could not be expanded even three months after the change of leadership. The meeting started at 3:30 pm.

Leaders of all parties are present in the meeting. Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister on Nov 2, has not been able to share in the alliance.

Currently, there is a coalition government of Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center and CPN (Socialist) in Karnali. The Congress is represented by Chief Minister Shahi, the CPN-Socialist and the CPN-Maoist from the Center.

After today’s all-party meeting, the coalition is preparing to decide on the distribution of ministers, the leaders said.

As per the prior agreement of the coalition parties, out of the seven ministries, three will be given to the CPN-Socialists. It was agreed to give two ministries to the three Congress parties including the chief minister and the Maoists, but the chief minister has not been able to complete the government after the Maoists demanded at least four ministries saying that their number of parliamentarians is too much.

According to Him Bahadur Shahi, Chief Whip of CPN-Karnali, the government will be expanded in a day or two if the new agreement is reached.

The meeting will also discuss how to celebrate the annual festival of the parliament.
