KATHMANDU: JAN. 28 – Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of the Nepali Congress and Prime Minister, has set a meeting of the Central Working Committee for Friday to announce the date of local elections, despite rising pressure inside the party to do so.

Today’s meeting will begin at 3 p.m. via a virtual medium.

According to Deuba’s secretariat, the meeting will be held virtually due to the risk of COVID-19 infection. The meeting could not be physically held due to the Central Working Committee’s vast size.

It is said that the meeting will decide on the date of the election in case of delay in announcing the date due to the decision of the ruling coalition to postpone the local level election to be held next Baisakh (April/May).
